A McLaren Vale Wine Tour with a Difference!

Experience McLaren Vale by bike on a private guided wine tour that combines relaxed riding, beautiful landscapes and carefully chosen winery stops. This is a curated, small-group experience designed to showcase the best of the region — without the crowds or rigid schedules of traditional wine tours.

Rather than simply hopping between wineries, this experience begins with a scenic ride through nearby natural areas before descending into the heart of McLaren Vale. Riding premium bikes allows us to explore quiet back roads, forest sections and vineyard trails that most visitors never see.

With a dedicated local guide, winery tastings, lunch and all transport taken care of, this is an active yet leisurely way to enjoy one of South Australia’s most celebrated wine regions.

Sample Itinerary

(Exact routes, stops and timing are tailored to your group and conditions on the day.)

Adelaide Pick-Up & Ride Briefing

Your day begins with pick-up from central Adelaide or Glenelg, before heading south toward the McLaren Vale region. On arrival at the starting point, you’ll be fitted with a premium bike and helmet and given a relaxed briefing to make sure everyone is comfortable and ready to ride.

Exploring Natural Areas on the Edge of McLaren Vale

Before reaching the vineyards, the ride explores some of the lesser-known natural areas that fringe the McLaren Vale region. Depending on conditions and group preferences, this may include trails in Onkaparinga River National Park, with views across dramatic gorges, or a more relaxed ride through the tall forests of Kuitpo or Belair National Park, known for its quiet roads and native bushland.

These areas offer a peaceful introduction to the day and are often home to kangaroos, koalas and other wildlife.

Scenic Descent into McLaren Vale

From the hills, the route descends gently toward McLaren Vale, with sweeping views across vineyards and rolling countryside. This section is designed to be enjoyable and confidence-building, allowing you to relax into the ride while taking in the scenery.

On arrival in the Vale, it’s time to slow the pace and prepare for your first winery stop.

Winery Visits & Vineyard Riding

The heart of the experience is a leisurely ride between selected boutique wineries, using quiet back roads, vineyard lanes and lesser-known tracks wherever possible. Tastings are arranged at carefully chosen wineries that focus on quality wines and a relaxed, personalised experience.

Rather than rushing between stops, the day is paced to suit your group, allowing time to enjoy each location.

Local Produce Lunch

Lunch is enjoyed at one of our favourite wineries, featuring a gourmet local produce platter paired with a tasting. There’s plenty of time to relax, enjoy the setting and sample wines at your own pace. Any wine purchases can be safely transported for you in the support vehicle.

Afternoon Options

In the afternoon, the experience remains flexible. Depending on the group’s mood, this might include:

  • A relaxed stop at a local microbrewery
  • Another winery visit
  • A café or chocolate stop
  • A beachside break on warm days

Your guide will tailor the final part of the day to suit the group.

Return to Adelaide

At the end of the day, you’ll be transported back to Adelaide, with time to unwind and reflect on a memorable day of riding, wine and scenery. Any wine purchases are collected along the way so you don’t need to carry them while riding.
