We have had a number of customers contact us recently, asking if we are still operating due to the bush fires. The answer is YES, most definitely! Unfortunately, the media is making it sound like the entirety of Australia is on fire, with dramatic images and maps of the devastation. This is most definitely NOT the case for most of the country!
It is extremely sad to see and hear about the devastation that has happened, most locally in the Adelaide Hills and on Kangaroo Island, and obviously also on the Eastern Coast, and our thoughts are with those affected. However unfortunately the message seems to be that the whole country is under fire, when it’s most definitely NOT!
In South Australia the main fires have been on Kangaroo Island, and in the Adelaide Hills around Lobethal and Woodside. Now obviously we would not operate in an area that has been recently burnt. This has mainly affected our Shuttles Service at Fox Creek, where the mtb trails have been totally burnt out, and will be likely closed for 4-6 months we think. As such we have moved our shuttle service to Eagle MTB park, which is totally unaffected by fire.
Our McLaren Vale bike and wine tour is in an area unaffected by fires, as is our Lofty Descent tour, which we ran yesterday on brand new trails just opened in Cleland Conservation Park. And all 150km of singletrack near our base is fully open. The forecast for the next week looks perfect for riding with tops of 23-33C, and no likely high fire danger ratings. We also have our wine tour running all weekend with 20 people booked on over 3 days. Bike hire and guiding all still available too.
So, please definitely support and donate to the efforts to assist those affected by the fires. However, don’t be put off from visiting Australia and South Australia- only a small part of the country has been affected, and the rest is most certainly open for business, and we need your support too! Here’s a few photos from the last week or so!
Cheers,
Ian.
