Well, it certainly was a little wetter than we were expecting on Saturday for our Part ii skills day, but in the end it didn’t turn out too bad.
Andrew, Lee, Fiona and Shorty turned up to battle the elements on their bikes.
We started off working on developing some of the skills learnt previously with the help of our ramp and jump set-up to practise drop-offs, bunny hopping, step-ups and a few other things. The rain did force us to have a break every half hour or so, which just meant we were forced to shelter in the orange tent and have a cup of freshly brewed coffee and a slice of Deb’s raspberry chocolate slice. Damn! Shorty was the only one we couldn’t stop for more than 30 seconds though, and he was soon bunny hopping our entire ramp…… kids, eh!
Then it was time to hit the berms and practise high-speed cornering too! And just as we finished this it started lightly raining again, which just meant it was time for lunch.
After lunch the weather seemed to have improved a bit, so we all put on an extra layer and headed up North Face and then into Tunnel Vision. We then spent a while sessioning various parts of the park, looking a line choice, technical climbing, more cornering techniques, and a few other things. Shorty also learned a few new race lines!
Finally everyone, with the exception of Shorty, was totally exhausted and it was time to head back. We got back to the cars and the tent just before it started raining. Perfect.
I hope everyone enjoyed the day, we certainly did. Sorry about the weather, at least it didn’t cause too much distruption to the day.
We look forward to seeing you all out on the trails soon……
