Here are a few links to some of our favourite businesses and websites. Let them know you heard about them from us at Escapegoat!
Lifecycles On Kensington Road. The most friendly bike shop in Adelaide. They offer a 10% discount for all Escapegoat customers on all accessories and clothing- ask us about this. This is one of the best places to grab a new bike in town, or get your bike serviced. Go in and grab one of their Specialized test fleet for a spin!! Just ask for Jason or Ben and say we sent you!
Biomechanics Cycles and Repairs - Pete is a legend, no job is too tough! This is were we go to get all our repairs sorted out when Ian breaks things or ’services’ things wrong! They also have a good selection of other stuff to buy, including some amazing Commencal bikes, which are seriously great bikes. Hmm, can I have one, Deb?

Over the Edge Sports, Melrose - Alistair and Rich have set up a fantastic shop in Melrose, just a stones throw from the singletrack they have helped build. They have a great selection of top-end bikes, and probably the best fleet of hire bikes in SA. Make sure you pop in and say hi next time you are in Melrose. They also can point you to the best trails, and are organising the Fat Tyre Festival this year in June.
North Adelaide Fitness Centre – They offer all you ever wanted from a gym and provide a personalised fitness experience in a friendly and comfortable environment. They also offer bootcamps and loads of classes and stuff if that takes your fancy!
The Adelaide Mountain Bike Club – The club is the place to check out if you are into racing. They run a huge number of races and are keen advocates of finding more places to ride too. The website has some great info too. Also check out the club forum which is probably one of the best places to ask locals about all things mountain bikey- you will normally find Ian lurking around!
Adelaide XC Trails Our good friend Trailpig has put this website together, to hopefully give people a better idea about some of the trails around Adelaide. Most good riding spots are mentioned, and a few of Ian’s trailguides have been reproduced there. It’s definately worth a look.
Cyclewise training- If you are heading to the UK, make sure you find time to go MTBing up the Lake District. And if you do, make sure you go and visit our friends at Whinlatter. Cyclewise is run by Rich and Craig, who are two top blokes with a wealth of knowledge on all things mountain biking. It was with these guys that Ian did all his Mountain Bike Guiding training, but if that sounds too much like hard work, why not just go and hire a bike and check out the amazing singletrack outside their shop!
Travel Insurance- we are more than happy to recommend Travel Insurance Direct- A subsiduary of of Allianz. They will cover MTB’ers and their bikes (although the bikes AREN’T covered whilst you ride them, so do a skills course and learn not to fall off!) and they are heaps cheaper than any of the insurance you get offered from Travel Agents. The cover offered really is excellent (believe me, I know, I work in insurance!) and it’s great value. The annual coverage is brilliant value too! Hit the link above or go to our Travel Insurance page!
Wiggle- a great online bike shop, with very reasonable prices, and free delivery to Australia once you spend $100AUD on an order- we have found items deliveried to us in Australia within a week! Great value and great service!
