The Escapegoat difference:-
- We specialise in small group experiences- you won’t find yourself in a group with 20 others!
- We have been operating since 2008 and are the only business operating with anĀ SMBLA qualified instructor- this is a significant qualification, and not just a 2 day course to teach school kids to ride bikes
- We are a fully accredited tourism business
- We have top-quality high end equipment and are supported by Avanti bikes so you can be sure you will be riding great bikes- our hire bikes are high end bikes, and are almost all brand new 2012 models.
- We are highly qualified and experienced in running Mountain biking experiences- we don’t just use staff who are Outdoor Education Leaders who occasionally ride bikes!
- Ian is a qualified skills coach- not just able to ride well, we are trained to TEACH. Just because someone is a good rider it does not necessarily make them a good teacher!
- All trips and events and run by Ian & Deborah! We are passionate about what we do, and are hands on involved with everything we run. We don’t get students on placement to run our trips. All guiding is done by Ian.
- We lead the way with developing mountain biking in SA. Whilst others may try to replicate what we do, we were the first to offer commercial MTB skills training in SA, the first (and currently only) to be able to run MTB trips in Conservation Parks in SA, and the only operator currently operating regular trips on the Flinders Ranges by Bike loop.
- We have agreed, official access to use Eagle Park AND Craigburn Farm- we don’t just meet clients at the gate and ride in, but are allowed vehicle access for our courses, which is very important for safety and make our courses more relaxed and enjoyable. We also pay and contribute to the management of Eagle Park.
- We work closely with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Office of Recreation and Sport to manage, promote and open up new areas of the Adelaide Hills to sustainable mountain biking. Ian is also a committee member of SAMBA (South Australian Mountain Biking Association).
- We don’t do road bikes, hiking or anything else, we just love to mountain bike!
